Wilson House

Tempietto was commissioned by Berkhamsted School to extend and refurbish the head teacher’s house, which sits within the grounds of the school in Berkhamsted Conservation Area. The original house was built of high quality materials, including 2” bricks, but was quite austere in appearance. It also lacked the space required for gatherings of school governors and parents that the head teacher often hosts.   We designed two-storey front, side and rear extensions to meet the requirements of the brief and the whole of the house was refurbished, including a new kitchen, bathrooms and the replacement of its windows. The appearance of the building was transformed but the additions are seamless due to matching materials, including 2” bricks, being sourced. The contract completed on time and on budget allowing the newly appointed head teacher to take occupation.
