This project transformed a 1980s neo-Georgian house that turned its sides to the road and to the countryside views into a sophisticated modern house. This included the addition of a two storey extension to the front, refurbishment including the replace of all the windows and re-arrangement of the interior, including a new and repositioned staircase. In addition to increasing levels of insulation to the loft and windows; solar thermal and photovoltaic cells were included on the least prominent but southerly facing roof slope to make the house carbon efficient. Underfloor heating was also introduced throughout the ground floor of the house, increasing comfort and removing the clutter of radiators.
