Pegsden involved the conversion of a barn and outbuildings within the curtilage of a listed farmhouse and within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to two dwellings. The scheme was carefully considered to utilise existing openings wherever possible and to minimise the number of new openings, thereby preserving the rural character of the buildings. The volume of the two storey space within the barn remain appreciable due to a void being retained over the proposed dining room and the living room being accommodated on the first floor, thereby minimising the need for subdivision and allowing the existing roof trusses to be exposed.
