Castle Mill

next project >
Tempietto negotiated planning permission for the conversion and extension of this Victorian Mill to fifteen with basement parking. The site is adjacent to the Grand Union Canal and within an identified flood plain. It is also within Berkhamsted Conservation Area and an area of archaeological significance. Tempietto was responsible for organising an archaeological investigation of the site and a flood risk assessment in the course of negotiating planning approval. Tempietto produced construction information for the project in conjunction with Quantity Surveyors, Structural and Mechanical & Electrical Engineers and administered a JCT Prime Cost Contract for the works. All but one of the apartments was sold prior to completion. The scheme was awarded the Berkhamsted Citizens Association Environment Award in 2006.
